Rudolph the Red-Nosed Rice Krispies Treat

Bring a treat for the class!? AHHH! Full disclosure – I saw this on Pinterest and thought they were so cute. But I could not find any info on the supplies needed or assembly instructions. Cut to blog post.

The “pre-kid” me would have made the rice krispies treat from scratch. But now that I’m a mom I know better. People don’t care if these are homemade they just want them to taste good. And I want them to look like I spent 3 whole days making the perfect class treat – when in reality it only took about 20 minutes.

So here are the supplies needed to make these adorable holiday treats!

16 Rice Krispies Treats, unwrapped
32 candy eyeballs
16 red M&Ms
Mini Wood Spoons
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Rice Krispies TreatYou will need to make a double boiler to melt the chocolate chips. The melted chocolate will be used to create the reindeer antlers. We think a double boiler works better than melting the chocolate in the microwave. The chocolate continues to remain hot during the antler making processes versus reheating the chocolate in the microwave.

In a small saucepan/ add 2 inches of water. Bring to boil. Place a glass bowl  on top of the saucepan. Reduce heat to low. Add chocolate chips and stir until chips melt.

Assembling the Reindeer
Use a sharp knife to cut a slit in the top of the rice krispies treat. Insert mini wooden spoon half way into the rice krispies treat. Add 2 candy eyeballs in the middle of the treat. Place a red M&M under the eyeballs.

Dip a toothpick into the melted chocolate. Draw a set of antlers above the eyeballs. Make 2 small “V”s one above the other. Then add a vertical line through them. See picture below. Let chocolate antlers harden before wrapping or transporting. Makes 16 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Rice Krispies Treats!
