Bring a treat for the class!? AHHH! Full disclosure – I saw this on Pinterest and thought they were so cute. But I could not find any info on the supplies needed or assembly instructions. Cut to blog post.
The “pre-kid” me would have made the rice krispies treat from scratch. But now that I’m a mom I know better. People don’t care if these are homemade they just want them to taste good. And I want them to look like I spent 3 whole days making the perfect class treat – when in reality it only took about 20 minutes.
So here are the supplies needed to make these adorable holiday treats!
You will need to make a double boiler to melt the chocolate chips. The melted chocolate will be used to create the reindeer antlers. We think a double boiler works better than melting the chocolate in the microwave. The chocolate continues to remain hot during the antler making processes versus reheating the chocolate in the microwave.
In a small saucepan/ add 2 inches of water. Bring to boil. Place a glass bowl on top of the saucepan. Reduce heat to low. Add chocolate chips and stir until chips melt.
Assembling the Reindeer
Use a sharp knife to cut a slit in the top of the rice krispies treat. Insert mini wooden spoon half way into the rice krispies treat. Add 2 candy eyeballs in the middle of the treat. Place a red M&M under the eyeballs.
Dip a toothpick into the melted chocolate. Draw a set of antlers above the eyeballs. Make 2 small “V”s one above the other. Then add a vertical line through them. See picture below. Let chocolate antlers harden before wrapping or transporting. Makes 16 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Rice Krispies Treats!
